loaded

Loaded with flavour, freshness and quality
Nestling near the corner of Bernard Street and The Shore is LOADED, the family run sandwich bar which has been pulling in the hungry in their droves for over four years now.

The striking yellow and red LOADED shop front draws the eye and the delicious smells escaping from inside ensure the feet follow.

Owned and managed by Vivien and Shaun Moncrieff, the LOADED ethos very much stems from the couple’s own personal views.

Viv commented: “Our bakers, veg & egg suppliers are all local, we try to use Edinburgh based companies whenever possible. Support from local business is very much appreciated, we have built up a wonderfully loyal customer base and feel it is important to return the favour and keep the local economy virbrant. Some of our customers have been coming to us everyday since we first opened!”
Open from 7am until 3pm Monday to Friday, LOADED caters for every taste in both hot and cold fare. Two different soups and hot main courses are provided daily, as well as the hot regulars of chilli and rice, Italian meatballs, baked potatoes and both hot pork and beef, freshly roasted each day.

Confessions

Confessions ... of a three by three
Ideally I would like to have been Little Miss Perfect who married her childhood sweetheart, had two children, a dog, a cat, an ivory covered cottage and spent my days baking cookies and organising fetes, it certainly wasn’t my childhood dream to have three children by three different men.

Thank god for Ulrika Johnston, all of a sudden the number three doesn’t seem as bad. She had four, although she at least married three of them.

I have a blended brood of three boys, myself and my dog. We all have different surnames apart from the dog who has a double barrelled surname which is a combination of my surname and my eldest (the dog arriving when I was a mere one by one, although still a single parent).

Few women intentionally decide to procreate with a variety of partners, why would people plan for their lives to go wrong?

Fringe on a press pass

the fringe on a press pass
August in Edinburgh, love it or loathe it. Depending on your perspective it’s either the greatest arts festival on Earth, or a city annually ruined by tourist hordes devoid of direction. For me, art triumphs, it was the Fringe that first brought me to Edinburgh, and to the port of Leith. I have a lot to thank the Fringe for.

Fringe ‘08 comes with a golden ticket in the form of a press pass, just waiting to be used and abused in the good name of The Leither. Casting aside my usual Leither duties of photographing holes in Leith Walk, I have afforded myself a few days of hardcore festival action, day-saver in one hand, camera in the other, and golden ticket displayed gratuitously around my neck.
